The Pooch Pageant celebrates the love between dogs and their owners, and welcomes all breeds and sizes of dogs to compete. We try to ensure that every dog is a winner, and so we tailor the judging categories to allow each dog to show off his/her particular talent, be it shedding, barking, fetching or just giving a kiss. The "Shyest Dog" winner of 2012 never came out from under a chair! We also will be judging tricks, costumes, and "Looks Most Like Owner." Prizes have been generously donated from individuals and businesses both in and outside of Berkley.

There is a $10 registration fee to participate, and all entrants must pre-register. Registration tentatively closes Saturday, May 11, but we will accept late forms (see attached PDF) until we cannot fit in another dog. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Detroit Dog Rescue of St. Clair Shores.

During and after the Pageant, both Detroit Dog Rescue and Bull Mastiff Rescue of Michigan will be on-site with information about rescue dogs, adoption and fostering. Also during the event, Jennifer from Doggie Styles Pet Salon in Southfield will be on hand to trim contestant's nails for a reduced price.

We are extremely excited about this year's show. Last year, we had 15 participating dogs, and we'd like to increase that this year to 25.
