Why go: Don your fancy hat and head to the track, where you can sip a mint julep while you bet on live races and enjoy a simulcast of the big event from Chruchill Downs in Kentucky.

Why go: The monthly Friends of the Library book sale is Saturday, so get ready to grab your reusable shopping bags and load up. Shoppers will be able to take home fiction and nonfiction titles. Proceeds benefit the library.
Cost: Hardcovers will be available for $1, and paperbacks will sell for 50 cents or three for $1.
Free Comic Book Day at Time Travelers
When: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday

Why go: Shops around the world will give away comics during the annual Free Comic Book Day event designed to encourage children of all ages to read.

Mother's Day Breakfast at the Zoo
When: 8-10 a.m. Sunday

Why go: Take your special lady out for a buffet-style breakfast inside the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery. Children will get to make a special gift for Mom in the butterfly and hummingbird garden.
Cost: $25 adults, $20 children for members or $30 adults, $25 children for nonmembers; includes zoo admission.
