Man Pinned In Vehicle After Crash With Semi Truck In Oakland County: Sheriff

The man was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in​ Novi where he was treated for minor injuries, officials said.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI — An elderly man was injured in a crash involving a semi truck Tuesday morning in Oakland County, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash happened at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of Pontiac Trail in Commerce Township, officials said.

The 87-year-old man was driving a Chevy Malibu west on Pontiac Trail when he slammed into the back of the semi truck's trailer, officials said.

Investigators believe the semi truck was turning onto eastbound Pontiac Trail from the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter when the crash happened.

Rescue crews had to extricate the elderly man from the vehicle after the crash, officials said.

He was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in Novi where he was treated for minor injuries, officials said.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash, but was given a citation in connection with the crash, officials said.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
