Musical Guest to Visit Yoga Studio
House of Yoga in Berkley plans special candlelight practice Sunday evening.

A chance meeting last month inspired a special candlelight yoga class Sunday evening in Berkley with live music by guest Kristin Luna Ray.
The musician and her husband Josh Cantor befriended partners Abby Bechek Hoot and Dave Tomaszewski, both of Royal Oak, in October at the World Peace Yoga Jubilee in Loveland, Ohio, and decided to swing by the studio while in town for a spiritual event. Bechek Hoot and Tomaszewski normally lead the Sunday evening class with their band "Vishnu Blue," but instead invited their new friend to do the honors this week.
North Carolina resident Kristin Luna Ray – a world traveler, recording artist and devoted yoga practitioner – will play music while House of Yoga instructor Jules leads a slow-moving restorative class suitable for beginners.

"The music aspect in yoga adds another dimension to the practice," Bechek Hoot said. "Moving your body in the physical poses is one way to transform. But, since the body is made of sound and vibration, adding music to a class makes for a much more profound transformation."
She said new and drop-in students are welcome to attend the event, which begins at 7:30 (participants are advised to arrive by 7:15 p.m.). Space is limited so registration is encouraged, as is a $10 donation. But, Bechek Hoot said, no one will be turned away if they can't afford to give the suggested amount.

David Demo of Warren, who frequently practices at House of Yoga, said he's looking forward to Kristin Luna Ray's visit.
"I like the music. I like Jules," he said. "It's the whole atmosphere."
