Police Blotter: Convertible Top Slashed, Flagpole Broken, Bikes Taken
Residents are urged to secure their belongings and speak up if they notice something out of the ordinary.

Public Safety officials in and have tackled a variety of reports during the past few weeks, including the following.
Convertible top slashed
A resident in the 3600 block of Kipling in Berkley reported that at 7 a.m. May 16, he discovered a hole cut in the soft top of his convertible, which had been parked in his driveway. The man said it appeared that someone had crawled into the vehicle through the hole and rifled through his glove box, but nothing was taken. There are no suspects or witnesses, according to the incident report.
Flagpole broken
A resident in the 3800 block of Oakshire in Berkley reported that between 8 a.m.-1 p.m. May 13, a 3-foot-long flagpole on her home was broken. There are no suspects, according to the incident report.

Bicycles taken
May is National Bike Month, and with it comes a reminder to residents to keep their bicycles secured at all times. The Huntington Woods Public Safety Department received two reports of bicycles being taken from open garages during the last few days of April. One of the incidents occurred on Hendrie, and the other took place on Concorde. The League of American Bicyclists offers the following bike security tips, which are aimed at commuters but apply to everyone:
- Stash your bike in a covered, secure place, such as a closet or even your office.
- Formally request that your employer provide bike parking or lock it up outside.
