On Feb. 28, the Michigan House unanimously approved legislation eliminating hassles for Michigan veterans when proving military service, state Rep. Mike McCready announced.Â
House Bills 4037 and 4287 will create a special designation for veterans on Michigan driver's licenses and state ID cards.
"Veterans have put their lives on the line for our freedom and this legislation ensures they have access to the benefits and discounts they deserve," said McCready, R-Bloomfield Hills. "Today we honored our veterans and simplified their lives by voting to designate their veteran status right on their driver's license or state ID card. The days of carrying around discharge papers and struggling to prove military service will soon be over thanks to this common-sense legislation."
