On the Agenda: Pay Stations at City Parking Garages

Appointments:

  • William Wiebrecht and Raymond Stevens will interview for two open spots on the Parks and Recreation Board for terms to expire in March 2015.

All items listed on the consent agenda are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion and approved by a roll call vote. There will be no separate discussion of the items unless a commissioner or citizen so requests.

  • A resolution awarding a contract to Bricco Excavating Company for the Graefield Road paving project, in the amount of $1,118,776.
  • A resolution setting a public hearing of necessity for April 9 for the installation of lateral sewers along Graefield Road. If necessity is declared, another public hearing will be scheduled to confirm the project on April 23.
  • A resolution upgrading the city's parking system hardware and software at a cost of $42,019.18.
  • A resolution approving the purchase of several benches and trash receptacles at a cost of $21,645.

  • A resolution creating an ad hoc joint committee of the City Commission and the Library Board.
  • A resolution to purchase a new fire engine/pumper for a total cost of $597,861.
  • A resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with Woodward Brown, LLC to lease the city property on the northwest corner of Woodward and East Brown Street, adjacent to 34901 and 34953 Woodward Ave.
  • Amending the city's sign ordinance to add new conditions regulating signage in the Downtown Overlay District.
  • Amending the Rail District Sign Ordinance to eliminate portable signs.


In addition, commissioners will consider three alternatives for ways to pay and exit two of the city's parking garages. As part of the hardware and software upgrade at the garages, commissioners will be replacing the two pay machines at the Brown Street exit of the , as well as the Bates Street exit of the North Old Woodward Structure. The three options on the table are:

  • To install pay-in-lane machines for a total of $79,661.68
  • To install pay-in-lane machines with bill dispensing capabilities for a total of $100,225.68
  • To install two fee computers in the existing booths for a total of $35,540


In the first two options, the city would remove the existing booth at the Pierce Street Garage and construct a shelter for the equipment.
