On the Agenda: School Board to Approve New Teachers Tuesday

The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the on West Merrill.

Reports:

  • Steve King, manager of operations for Birmingham Public Schools, will provide school board members with an update of all building projects throughout the district.
  • Debbie Piesz, assistant superintendent for business services, will update the board on financial statements for FY ending June 30, 2012

  • Personnel action: The board will approve the hiring of several new teachers for the 2012-13 school year.
  • Award public bid: The board will award a contract to United Rentals for the purchase of an articulating lift, trailer, extended warranty and service plan. The total cost will be $66,863.
  • Recognition of service: The board will recognize the service of the late Gregory Tietjens, a retired district employee. Tietjens, a Troy resident, passed away on Aug. 11 at age 51.


Also at the Tuesday night school board meeting, residents and parents can hear the Superintendents Report, Board Comments and have the chance to make public comment. Public Comment occurs before the board hears reports and discusses resolutions.
