On the Agenda: Walgreens Plans Go Back to Planning Board

The Birmingham Planning Board will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of Birmingham .

The only item on the agenda Wednesday is a special land use permit application and the final site plans for a proposed Walgreens, which is looking to move into the location formerly occupied by Borders on Woodward Avenue.

Walgreens representatives first went before the Planning Board on Dec. 14, but about a proposed drive-thru window for the pharmacy, lighting, the entrance and a potential redesign of Worth Street.

in October, City Manager Bob Bruner said. The location has been vacant since Sept. 12, when Borders closed as part of the bookstore chain's bankruptcy and liquidations proceedings.

Should Walgreens' plans receive approval from the Planning Board on Wednesday night, it would still need to go before the City Commission for final approval.
