The Community House Announces New Officers and Board Members

Board of Directors named six new board members at its January meeting:

Alan Cobb has been a leader in design and practice since joining Albert Kahn Associates in 1976.  Alan has served on the Boards of AIA Detroit, AIA Michigan, Michigan Architectural Foundation, University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture, Lawrence Technological University School of Architecture and Urban Design, New Center Council and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.

Alexis Dishman began her career at Comerica Bank in 2000, and is currently an Alternate Group Manager and Vice President of Small Business Banking for Comerica. Alexis is the Chair of Comerica’s Michigan African-American Business Development Initiative, a member of the leadership council of the Comerica African American Network and an active member of Urban Financial Services Coalition Detroit Chapter. Alexis serves on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit Accounting Aid Society.

Bill Pulte is the Managing Partner of Pulte Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused exclusively on building products. Bill is the Chairman of Carstin Brands, Pulte Capital’s first of what will be many investments  He serves as Northwestern University’s Club President for Eastern Michigan and also serves on the board of the Northwestern Alumni Association.

Lois Shaevsky is an active community volunteer. She has served on the Board of Directors/Trustees of William Beaumont Hospital, Goodwill Industries, CARE House of Oakland County, Detroit Public Television, The Children’s Center of Detroit, the Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan Opera Theatre, National Council for Community and Justice, Variety The Children’s Charity, as well as chairing and serving on numerous committees for fundraising events.

Gwen Schultz has been a real estate agent in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area for over 28 years and is presently with Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel. She served for 5 years on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and continues to be very active in the community, as well as a frequent class taker at TCH. 

Dr. Marcella Wilson is President & CEO of Matrix Human Services. A University of Michigan alumnus, Dr. Wilson holds degrees in psychology, sociology, a master’s degree in social work and a Ph.D. in health and higher education.  Dr. Wilson serves on the Wayne State University Reuther Library Advisory Board, Detroit Area Agency on Aging, Detroit Literacy Council and is a member of the Senior Citizens Commission. Dr. Wilson has received the Charter One Foundation Community Champion Award, the Theresa Maxis Award for Social Justice and an Emmy Award for “WATRUFIGHTN4?” a video and website promoting social activism.
