New iPhone, Google Play app notifies family and friends when a loved ones pass away.
BIRMINGHAM, MI — A Birmingham-based company aiming to help notify family and friends when a loved ones pass away has landed $5 million in seed funding. Everydays, Inc. already has hundreds of customers and a line on many more, according to CEO Mark Alhermizi.
“Our goal is to be the funeral industry’s partner in making their services more approachable, accessible, and welcoming to all people — especially younger generations,” he recently told dbusiness. “Many millennials and Gen Xers are experiencing loss for the first time and have readily embraced our product.” says Mark Alhermizi, founder and CEO of Everdays.
Everydays recently launched its free application on Apple’s iOS App Store and Google Play Store, dbusiness reported. Since then, close to 800 funeral homes have started using the app, while another 4,000 have committed to using the service, Alhermizi said. There are approximately 25,000 funeral homes in the country.

Led by IZI Ventures, with participation from its affiliates, the $5 million investment will further Everday’s mission to build the first global network dedicated to gathering community and facilitating the communication following a death, dbusiness reported.
“Everdays is unlike any other notification method in that it has the viral ability to attract greater attendance at funeral services, particularly among a younger demographic,” Alhermizi told the business journal. “Everdays gives them hope and comfort by bringing together community — so they never have to go through losing someone alone.”

Everdays simplifies the notification process by collaborating with funeral homes on memorial announcements, event details, and more, which families then distribute instantly and securely to their desired community using the app.
