BYA's 32nd Annual Kids Dog Show

Birmingham Youth Assistance and Birmingham Public Schools presents: the 32nd annual Kids Dog Show!

Who can participate? Children between the ages of 4-14 that live in or attend a school within the Birmingham Public School district.

Registration is $7 per dog.

Your dog may win in one of these categories:

• Best Behaved


• Smallest


• Best Trick


• Largest


• Best Costume


• Best Looking


• Most Personality


• Best in Show

The best in show prize is sponsored by Premier Pet Supply, which will be donating more than $400 worth of pet supplies to the winner.

Doors open at noon for contestant sign-in. There will be no on-site registration, with pre-registration ending Thursday, Feb. 7.

New in 2013, the dog show will feature Outstanding Teen of Oakland County, 14-year-old St. Clair Shores resident Vanessa Chambe, as a first-time judge.

"I am thrilled to be participating in an event that supports kids programming for Birmingham Youth Assistance," Chambe said in a press release. "I have been involved with the Michigan Humane Society with my Girl Scout troop, so this is a perfect fit for me."

Other judges include Mike Palmer of Premier Pet Supply, Pam Roehr of the Southern Michigan Obedience Training Club, Birmingham Mayor Pro Tem Scott Moore, Beverly Hills Council President Walter Briggs, Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Taub and State Rep. Mike McCready (R-Bloomfield Hills),

Also making an appearance this Sunday is the Birmingham Youth Assistance's 50th anniversary BowWow mascot, Boomer, a 10-year-old Collie and Australian Shepherd mix.
