One Act Play Festival

When: June 27-28, 7:30 p.m.; June 29, 2 p.m.

Two farces, one fantasy comedy, and a drama are featured in the THIRD ANNUAL VILLAGE PLAYERS/PLAYWRIGHTS AT WORK ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL.

The four original plays by local playwrights will be presented at each production on July 27, 28, & 29 at the Village Players Playhouse in Birmingham.  

Laughter reigns in Arthur E. Tucker Jr.'s farce , A STAR IS WORN, when an actor finds out that his costume hat has taken on a life of its own.

Tucker, a Rochester Hills resident, is married to another of the playwrights, Laura Bradshaw. Her play, IN THE COMPANY OF PRINCES, blends fantasy and realism as a ghost sets out to find out how she died.  

Barbara Schmitt's farce, COLOR THERAPY, concerns a woman whose decision to paint her apartment is apartment is analyzed by a who's who of psychiatrists and counselors, from Sigmund Freud to Dr. Ruth to Dr. Phil. Schmitt is a Royal Oak resident.  

UNSPOKEN, the one drama in the group, takes place in the hard scrapple world of West Virginia coal mining during the 1940's where a mother is determined to stop her son from becoming a miner. Bloomfield Twp. resident John Reddy is the author.
