Tackling Sensory Issues

Speakers:

·  Laura Barker, MS, OTR (Occupational Therapist, Registered), Birmingham Public School District and Director of Making Connections Inc.

·  Sandra Glovak, OTRL (Occupational Therapist, Registered, Licensed), Clinical Director of Sensory Systems Clinic

Will be discussing the research and science of sensory processing disorders and how sensory input may affect brain chemistry and neuropathways leading to changes in behavior and learning.  They will provide examples of how disruptive behaviors can be changed using research based techniques at school and at home. There will also be sensory equipment on display for visual aids and hands-on demonstrations. BPS staff members attending may receive Professional Development credit and be eligible to win an exciting raffle prize!
