Owner Lauren Tolles is a classically-trained architect with a passion for design.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A full-service, luxury design and build firm will soon be looking to makeover Birmingham kitchens and bathrooms. Maison Birmingham is set to open March 23 with the idea of creating balanced, efficient spaces for its clients.

“I’ve always been interested in residential design, but it’s the finishes and technical aspects of interior architecture that really speak to me,” Owner Lauren Tolles said in a statement. “At Maison Birmingham we tend to layer different materials to balance variation and consistency and create interest. We also are passionate about finding innovative ways for clients to utilize space most efficiently and incorporate enough free or open areas to allow the room to breathe.”

Located at 1020 South Old Woodward Avenue, the firm features a 2,500 square foot showroom that has been designed to provide a collaborative, gallery-like workspace for clients, designers, builders, and architects. Complete with a wide range of finish samples including cabinetry, tile, flooring, paint, and stone samples, the showroom provides most elements of a typical design center, but under one roof to simplify the entire design-build process.

Tolles, a classically-trained architect with a passion for design, was inspired by her mother’s love of interior design, and countless trips with her to the San Francisco Design Center as a child. Her experience and education ensure that the interior design of the home is both consistent and harmonious with the home’s exterior.

Maison Birmingham offers everything from interior architecture, to custom cabinetry, interior design, construction, and project management. Projects range from a simple cosmetic renovation, to major construction in changing floor plans. Tolles and her team are able create new modern spaces, or work with older homes that want an updated look while holding true to the historical integrity of the structure.
The showroom is the only one in the country to sell the luxury Danish cabinetry line, Boform. All other cabinetry is sourced from U.S. or Canadian manufacturers. Boform is unique in that it is 100 percent custom European cabinetry that is of such high quality the owner of the company refers to the product as “furniture”.
