Tim Allen Taking Heat For Nazi Remarks Made On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

METRO DETROIT, MI — Actor and comedian Tim Allen is taking heat for recent comments made on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week. Allen, who attended high school at Birmingham Seaholm, compared Holloywood with Nazi Germany with respect to political opinions.

“We did a VIP thing for the vets, we went to the veterans’ ball; we went to go see Democrats and Republicans,” Allen told Kimmel. “Yeah, I went to the inauguration … You’ve gotta be real careful around here, you know, you get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody believes.”

“This is like ’30s Germany,” Allen added. “I don’t know what happened. If you’re not part of the group, ‘you know what we believe is right,’ I go, ‘Well, I might have a problem with that.’”

According to a CBS Detroit report, the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect is calling on Allen to apologize for comparing the experience of being a conservative in Hollywood to living in Germany in the 1930s. Allen made the comments while discussing his attendance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

In a statement, Anne Frank Center executive director Steven Goldstein calls on Allen to “apologize to the Jewish people,” CBS Detroit reported. “No one in Hollywood today is subjecting you or anyone else to what the Nazis imposed on Jews in the 1930s.”

Allen, who also graduated from Western Michigan University, is best known for his role in the television comedy “Tool Time,” which was set in Royal Oak. Allen has starred in numerous movies, including playing Buzz Lightyear in 1995’s “Toy Story.”

Allen has not yet responded to Goldstein or the Anne Frank Center.
