5 Tips For Bloomfield Residents About Coyotes
In an effort to help educate residents on how to co-exist with Coyotes, the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety encourages the following tips.
Our post on Wednesday about the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety's new stance on coyotes generated some interesting responses and a couple of great photos that show just how close these wild animals come to Bloomfield area neighborhoods.
Here are five tips for residents, courtesy of the department:
1. Never leave pets outside and unattended, especially at night.
2. When pets are outside use a leash or keep them in a pen or fenced area.
3. Clean up any food in your yard that would attract a Coyote, including bird seed, mulch piles, pet food, open garbage, and unsecured waste containers.
4. Eliminate open sources of water if possible.
5. Clean up brush piles or landscaping that may attract smaller animals which in turn will attract Coyotes.
