Arctic Misery Ahead for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The high Monday will be 18 degrees, but it will feel more like -7. according to a hazardous weather statement issued by the National Weather Service.

The advisory affects Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, Livingston, Washtenaw, Genesee and 11 other southeast Michigan counties

Here’s the forecast for the rest of the week:

Sunday night: Scattered snow showers; mostly cloudy, with a low around 8; wind chill values as low as -6; west wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph; chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Monday and Monday night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers; mostly cloudy, with a high near 18, but wind chill values as low as -7; west wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. A 30 percent chance of snow showers overnight; mostly cloudy, with a low around 10; wind chill values as low as -2’ west wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Tuesday and Tuesday night: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22 but wind chill values as low as -2; west wind 8 to 10 mph; mostly cloudy overnight, with a low around 14; west southwest wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers; mostly cloudy, with a high near 24; mostly cloudy overnight, with a low around 17.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28; mostly cloudy overnight with a low around 19.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30; mostly cloudy overnight with a low around 20.
