Bloomfield Township Police Update: Fraud, Car Theft

The Bloomfield Township Police released their latest blotter report Thursday. The Feb. 8 report includes a summary of arrests, incidents, events and other items of significance in Bloomfield Township. The police do not release information if it might harm an ongoing investigation, so this report may not include information about those types of situations. The Feb 8 report retails larceny, fraud and auto theft incidents.

Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile

On Feb. 1 at approximately 2:10 p.m., the owner of a 2004 blue Chevrolet Express van parked outside Flexible Planning Investments, 3883 Telegraph Road, called police when he went to drive home and found his car missing. A witness saw someone driving the van in the parking around 2:10 p.m., but could not see the driver well enough to provide a description. Sometime between Dec. 30, 2017 and Jan. 31, 2018 a white 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited was taken from the inventory at Golling Chrysler Jeep. An inventory audit revealed the Jeep was stolen (with the keys) during that time. Larceny

The construction foreman on a project in the 1000 block of Club Drive reported that hoses valued at $1000, a power cord valued at $500, an air compressor valued at $2,750, and construction blueprints were all stolen from the site. The thefts took place between 4:30 pm. on Jan. 31 and 7:00 a.m. Feb 1. The items had all been stored in a temporary shed on the site. Fraud

A resident on the 1000 block of Circle Court called police after receiving a scam letter. The resident received the letter in mid-January, but did not immediately report it. The writer threatened to expose one homeowner’s secret unless he paid $3,450 in “hush money.” The resident recognized the letter as a scam and did not respond to it. The Bloomfield Township Police Department reminds citizens to not respond to requests for money from unverified sources.
