Bloomfield Township Starbucks Served Up Cleaning Fluid, Lawsuit States

A customer claims he suffered serious medical issues after ingesting commercial cleaning fluid.

Employees at a Bloomfield Township Starbucks could be in hot water after a lawsuit alleges they served a man a coffee with cleaning fluid.

John Canine, of Lake Orion, said he drank most of a cup of coffee he ordered at the coffee shop at Maple and Telegraph roads in Aug 2011 when an employee frantically approached and said he consumed commercial cleaning fluid, the Oakland Press reported.

Canine suffered extreme discomfort and required treatment for complications stemming from the incident, according to a lawsuit filed last week in Oakland County Circuit Court.

The lawsuit seeks more than $25,000, including interest, court costs and attorney fees.

A Starbucks representative told the newspaper that the company is investigating the claims.
