Body Recovered From Island Lake In Bloomfield Township

The 44-year-old woman had reportedly been canoeing alone. A friend found the woman's canoe Thursday night and called 911.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — The body of missing 44-year-old woman was recovered from Island Lake in Bloomfield Township Friday morning after the woman's canoe was found by a friend Thursday night. The friend alerted authorities, WWJ reported.

Police have not identified the woman who died. But WWJ reported that she had been in the canoe alone.

The woman's body was recovered from Island Lake at around 9:50 a.m. Friday behind Kirk in the Hills Church, which is on Long Lake Road near Franklin Road and Telegraph Road, according to WWJ.

According to Fox2Detroit.com, Bloomfield Township police received the call about a missing person who had disappeared while canoeing at about 8 p.m. Thursday

ClickOnDetroit.com reported that members of the Oakland County Dive Team and drones from the Bloomfield Township Police Department and Troy Police Department were used in the search. Dive team members eventually discovered the woman's body Friday.
