It's Time to Put Your Elf on the Shelf, Bloomfield
Santa's scout elves will help him with his naughty and nice lists, starting this week. Did you know Bloomfield has an official 'elf adoption' center?

In homes across the country, Thanksgiving isn't just a time for turkey and family gatherings.
It's time to break outΒ the Elf on the Shelf.Β
Launched in 2005, the scout elfΒ sent from the North Pole helps Santa manage his naughty and nice lists. Parents who establish this tradition are obliged to move the elf around the house every night, and according to elfontheshelf.com,Β there are only two rules: Kids can't touch the elf, and the elf can't speak or move when anyone in the house is awake.Β
It's all about the Christmas magic.Β
Elves are typically on dutyΒ between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, to remind their children that Santa isΒ always watching.Β
This year, the Elf on the Shelf product catalogΒ has expanded to include a package that sharesΒ North Pole birthday traditions (elf not included) and a line of "Claus Couture."
There is one Elf Adoption Center in Bloomfield Township and a couple in nearby Birmingham:
- Target, 2400 S. Telegraph Rd.
- Amy's Hallmark,Β 665 S. Adams St. inΒ Adams SquareΒ in Birmingham
- Suhm-Thing,Β 122 W. Maple Rd. in Birmingham
You can adopt anΒ Elf on the Shelf online, but since time is short, you may want to pick one up at anΒ Elf Adoption Center.Β If you can't make it to on of the Bloomfield orΒ Birmingham locations, visitΒ elfontheshelf.com.Β to find the oneΒ nearestΒ toΒ you.
And yes, there's an app for that. More than one, in fact.Β
Has your family adoptedΒ an Elf on the Shelf? Or is this a little too creepy for you? Tell us by posting a comment.Β
