Last Chance to See ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at Greek Theatre

The production coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Cranbrook Greek Theatre and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

Bloomfield Hills, MI — There are still a few chances to see Shakespeare’s classic “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Cranbrook Greek Theatre, one of only a few Greek-style amphitheaters in the country.

The St. Dunstan’s Theatre Guild of Cranbrook will present the play at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Greek Theatre is located at 400 Lone Pine Road, Bloomfield Hills.

The production coincides with the 100th anniversary of the theatre and the 400th anniversary of playwright William Shakespeare’s death, which occurred on May 3, 1616, in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK.

“Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a delightful story of four young Athenians who get lost in the woods  and become the playthings of woodland fairies. In true Shakespearian fashion, there are mistaken identities, transformations and dreamy scenes, all performed in a perfect outdoor setting.

If you’re planning on going, the weather looks perfect both Friday and Saturday nights with clear skies in the forecast. Thursday night is a bit dicier at this point, with rain in the forecast during the daytime with gradually clearing skies Thursday night.
