Oakland County Man Killed In Crash With Semi Truck: Police

Police said the 70-year-old man was entering an Oakland County shopping center Monday when a semi-truck smashed into his vehicle.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — An Orchard Lake man was killed Monday after a semi-truck and trailer smashed into his vehicle Monday in Bloomfield Township, police said.

The 70-year-old man was driving east across the northbound lanes of Telegraph Road trying to enter the Bloomfield Town Square Shopping Center at 1:15 p.m. when his car was hit by a semi-truck and trailer, police said.

The man was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, where he died, police said.

It was unclear if the semi truck driver was injured in the crash. Police do not believe the semi truck driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police were uncertain if drugs and alcohol played a factor with the victim, as investigators will waiting for toxicology results.
