Sacred Heart students make major volunteer commitment

Group of girls lending weekly hand at Grace Centers of Hope through school year

A small group of students from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills has made a major volunteer commitment this school year.

The students — Alexandra Bowden, Stephanie Rais, Ella Brenner and Vida LaBelle — are lending a hand at Grace Centers of Hope every Thursday through May 2025.

The Upper School girls were asked to pick a nonprofit in Oakland County that they would like to help and volunteer with. They chose Pontiac-based Grace Centers of Hope and are helping at the Men's and Woman and Children's kitchens preparing and serving meals, working with kids at Hands of Hope Daycare, and performing fall clean-up work at GCH's Community Garden and around the organization's 60 Aftercare houses.

"We depend on volunteers to keep our programs, services, and opportunities going for our men, women, and children," said Kevin Hines, GCH volunteer coordinator. "We are immensely grateful to Alexandra, Stephanie, Ella and Vida for their dedication and effort. They are doing a great job and bring joy every week."

Grace Centers of Hope is a leading nonprofit that provides comprehensive life skills programs to help men, women and children address complex issues such as homelessness, addiction and abuse. More information on volunteering at Grace Centers of Hope can be found here.
