Jan. 20, around 11:29 p.m., a suspect tried to pay for a bottled water and gas with what the clerk identified as a counterfeit $100 bill. The incident occurred at the Shell at 3690 West Maple Road. The suspect parked at the pump and went into the station. His car seemed to be an early model gray Toyota 4Runner, with black wheels. The suspect is described as a 25-year-old white man, abut 5’7”, clean shaven, wearing a black and gray ball cap, white framed sunglasses, a black puffy winter coat, black pants, and black sneakers with white soles.
After the clerk recognized the bill as fake and refused the sale, the suspect took the bill back, returned to his vehicle and was last seen eastbound on West Maple Road. The management at the store believes the same suspect tried to make a similar purchase with a fake bill about a week prior to this incident.Anyone with information about this suspect may call Bloomfield Township Police Department at (248) 433-7755.
