Lori Lukehardt Obituary

Lori was born in Ann Arbor to Norman and Wilma (Hertler) Luckhardt in 1957, and a life-long resident of Dexter. She graduated with honors from Dexter High School in 1975.

Following graduation she joined doctors Butler and Fink in Ann Arbor working as a scheduler, transcriptionist and biller while taking classes at Washtenaw Community College.

When Butler and Fink closed their office, Lori moved to the group now known as Michigan Heart in Ann Arbor as a medical biller.

Growing up, Lori played piano and was involved with 4-H in sewing, knitting, and crocheting as well as showing sheep and rabbits. She continued to sew and crochet throughout her life creating afghan’s for family and friends, and took quilting classes.

Lori enjoyed learning new skills and making new friends. She became a skilled artisan of stained glass, creating many beautiful lamp shades and window panes.

Lori was also an avid reader and could always be found wrapped in an afghan surrounded by books and magazines. She was very caring and giving to everyone she met and this extended to all her pets.

Lori was a member of St. Andrews United Church of Christ in Dexter, where she was baptized, confirmed and married in 1989. She is survived by her son, Kyle Gorny, and Kyle’s father, Patrick Gorny, Jr., of Dexter; a sister, Ruth Luckhardt, of Dexter; and her dog, Rascal; along with aunts, uncles and cousins in the Saline area. She is preceded in death by her parents, and several aunts, uncles and a cousin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews United Church of Christ in Dexter with Rev. Larry VanSlambrook officiating.

A private burial was held at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, 3100 Cherry Hill Road, Ann Arbor, 48105; or St. Andrews UCC, 7610 Ann Arbor St., Dexter, 48130.
