The Harvest Art Market at Silver Maples Retirement Community will celebrate its fifth year in Chelsea on Oct. 6.

The feel of the show, according to Shawn Personke, director of activities for Silver Maples, is "just right for everyone."

“We’re right there in the middle," she said in a press release. “There's nothing too 'fine-arty,' nothing too crafty. We’ve found that both our artists and our customers really appreciate interesting, hand-made items from artisans such as potter Cheryl Green, wood carver Colin Mehaffey, and silk/paper artist Joyce Nass. The items are varied, well made, and well-priced.”
The show is organized by the Silver Maples Art Committee.

“We’re excited to welcome back several of our 'regulars,' including Susan Falcone, who specializes in capturing the beauty of wild life and Celtic icons through a technique called glazing," Personke said.
Other vendors include Jan Sevde, a beekeeper who uses beeswax to make soaps and candles; and Wendy St. Antoine’s Bittersweet Farm Antiques, which offer a mix of antiques and hand painted folk art.
New this year is Judy Irwin, a potter, who specializes in functional and pretty pottery, such as coffee mugs, bowls, platters, casseroles, berry bowls, plus vases, planters and lanterns.
“Creating something out of clay on the potter’s wheel is like magic to me,” Irwin said. “As a beginner, the clay becomes whatever it wants to be. As you become more skilled at throwing you can create anything you want, the possibilities are endless.”
The market is open on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.silvermaples.org/. The market will be located inside Silver Maples at 100 Silver Maples Drive in Chelsea.
