Clawson to Celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday

Arbor Day is on Friday, April 26. The city asks residents to celebrate on Saturday, April 27, by planting or caring for trees.
Clawson has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for 23 years, an ongoing testament to the value that local officials and residents place on trees and woodlands in town.

- In 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees.
- This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more than a million trees in Nebraska.
- Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world.
