Vaporium Offers Smoking Alternative in Electronic Cigarettes

These days everything is electronic. Even cigarettes.

Owner and RN Leonard Kincaid offers a wide variety of electronic cigarettes at the Vaporium in Clawson. He said they helped him quit smoking and that most people have no clue what electronic cigarettes are and what they can do for you.

Kincaid recently submitted information about the business through the Small Business Spotlight and answered several questions about what exactly electronic cigarettes are.

What does your business offer? 

Electronic cigarettes, APV's, and all the accessories that go with them as well as over 50 different flavors of e-juices. Various mods in different price ranges. My knowledge and experience with using the products and the hundreds of hours I've spent on research and trial and error product use. Medical knowledge of the latest studies done on electronic cigarettes, as well a vast knowledge of 25 years of nursing practice and seeing first hand how detrimental smoking is to the human body. First hand knowledge of how difficult it is to quit smoking. We prefer to carry American Made products that are reliable and durable and operate the way they are intended to operate. Our products are reusable, reliable, durable with great tasting juices and varying nicotine levels.

What's your most popular product or service? 

Provari APV's. which are the Mercedes Benz of the electronic cigarette world, are made in Washington State USA, and are consistently ranked the best mod in the world by the hundreds of posters on the Electronic Cigarette Forums, which are an internet based e-cig users forum with members from around the world.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

There is no such thing as second hand vape. The IVAQS Study proved that electronic cigarettes are perfectly safe to bystanders.

Many restaurants and bars allow "vaping" in their buildings.

Most people have no clue what electronic cigarettes are and what they can do for you. People hear the word "cigarette" and automatically bring the anti-smoking bias to the forefront, or that they are a gimmick that doesn't work well. Also a lot of misconception that e-cigs are just another form of smoking. Most people know that Nicotine is the addictive portion of smoking, but what they don't understand is that Nicotine is NOT the deadly, disease causing portion of the tobacco. Carbon Monoxide, Tar, and over 4,000 cancer causing chemicals are found in cigarette tobacco. Chemicals like Arsenic for instance. Nicotine by itself in a vapor form has been shown to be no more harmful than caffeine.

Several of the doctors I work with at Beaumont refer their smoking patients to me to help them to quit smoking including the chief of ENT Surgery.

I get calls from people in other countries trying to get my products.

How did your business come to be?

I wanted to quit smoking.... I tried for years, patches, gum, Welbutrin, Chantix, cold turkey, herbal concoctions, nothing worked. I had heard about great electronic cigarette mods called APV (advanced personal vaporizers) that worked 100 x's better than the little "cigalikes" (electronic cigarettes that look like a cigarette) so I bought one. I went from over 2 packs of cigarettes a day to none with NO withdrawls. I helped my wife to quit the same way, then my friend and his wife.. then a total of 15 people.

I had done a LOT of research and learning the hard way since there are no stores in this area to help out someone new... so my wife and I decided to open a store to help people to quit and teach them the tricks of using APV's, provide a service, and quality merchandise.

Why did you choose the area you did?

I live in Clawson and work at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
