Board Rejects Pay Raise For Itself

Clinton Township's supervisor, clerk, treasurer and trustees haven't had a raise since 2004.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Clinton Township elected officials will go at least 15 years without a pay raise. The township’s board of trustees rejected a proposal Monday to raises the salaries of the supervisor, clerk, treasurer as well as themselves in a 5-2 vote. None of the elected officials have had a raise since 2004 and the issue can’t be raised again until at least 2019, according to a Macomb Daily report.

“It’s been a long time since our salaries were adjusted,” said Supervisor Robert Cannon, who oversees 13 departments.
“With Monday’s board vote, the supervisor will continue to earn $84,000, the clerk and treasurer $81,000, and trustees $14,000.”
