Civil War Music Tops Today's Clinton-Macomb Library Concert

The Fifth Michigan Regimental Band will give a free performance at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library main branch Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m.

Clinton-Macomb Public Library patrons have an opportunity to travel back in time today courtesy of a performance by the Fifth Michigan Regimental Band.

Part of the library's "Music at Main" Sunday concert series, this particular performance has been booked to complement the main library's current exhibit, Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War.

Donning period attire and using antique and replica sax horns and wood rope tension drums, members of the band take great care to bring the history of the Civil War era alive for their audience. The performance will include a program of pre-1865 compositions, instruments, attire, flags, and customs of the era.
