Clinton River Canoe & Kayak Proposes Launch at Budd Park in Clinton Township
The township board is considering a one-year agreement to allow the recreation company to use Budd Park as an access point to the Clinton River for its canoe and kayak trips.

Clinton River Canoe & Kayak Rentals is looking to add Clinton Township’s Budd Park to its list of launch points in 2013, but will need township board approval before it can start sending paddlers on their way.Â
Working with CRCK, the township has prepared an agreement that would allow the company to use Frank H. Budd Park as an access point to the Clinton River for one year. Township officials are scheduled to vote on this and other issues at tonight's board meeting.
Per the proposed agreement, CRCK would be granted the use of Budd Park, located at 19000 Clinton River Rd., explicitly for the purpose of accessing the Clinton River for organized canoe and kayak trips.

CRCK would be permitted to place a removable matt on the riverbank for easy launching, but be required to remove all equipment and any business-related refuse or debris at the end of each workday. The company would also have to comply with Michigan Department of Environmental Quality regulations.
If approved, the agreement would go into effect March 1 and end Nov. 1, although it would be subject to cancellation by the township or CRCK with 30 days notice.

The Budd Park route, which travels to downtown Mount Clemens, is designed for canoe and kayak beginners, as this section of the Clinton River has a very slow current and a greater width, according to CRCK's website.
CRCK offers trips daily from April through October. Trips can range from $30 an hour, to $60 for seven hours, acccording to 2012 rental rates.
