Clinton Township Clerk’s Office Resumes Passport Services

The processing of first-time passport applications, or renewals, is now available at the Clinton Township Clerk's Office for a standard fee.

After a brief hiatus, the Clinton Township Clerk’s Office is once again processing U.S. passport applications.

Clerk Kim Meltzer announced during the township’s Jan. 7 meeting that residents would again be able to use her office to submit their passport applications to the U.S. Department of State.

Most U.S. citizens entering the U.S. by land or sea ports are now required to have a passport, passport card or travel document approved by the Department of Homeland Security, according to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

Although the clerk’s office does not take passport photos, this service is offered by stores such as CVS and Walgreens for a fee.

Standard processing fees apply but checks are the only acceptable form of payment in the clerk's office. As the clerk’s office does not offer expedited service, residents can expect to receive their passports in approximately four to six weeks.

The clerk's office is located within the Civic Center at 40700 Romeo Plank Rd., near Canal.
