Clinton Township to Add Second Cable Channel, Continue Emergency AM Radio

CTTV, Clinton Township's cable station, is looking to provide a second government access channel to residents within 60 days.

Comcast and WOW customers in Clinton Township will soon have a second government access channel among their cable options thanks to efforts of CTTV personnel.

Through cable franchise agreements with Comcast, WOW and AT&T, Clinton Township residents who subscribe to these providers currently have access to a variety of local programming, including public service announcements, township board meetings, special event coverage and school news.

However, within the next 60 days, CTTV Director Linda Badamo said she hopes to bring a second channel to Comcast and WOW subscribers.

While Badamo is still researching providers for this channel, she said possible candidates are the Pentagon Channel, which provides military news, and NASA TV, which provides live coverage of missions and other agency events.

Comcast subscribers will find this programming on Channel 2, while WOW will use Channel 18. AT&T subscribers will not have access to this second channel, as the company has not provided CTTV with the necessary equipment to transmit the new programming, Badamo said.

In radio, Clinton Township plans to continue operating its low power AM radio station for weather and emergency alerts. Supervisor Bob Cannon announced during his State of the Township address Jan. 25 that the township would apply for a renewal of its operating license this year.

The station is available at 1610 AM.
