Elaborate Butane Lab Discovered In Clinton Township, MSP Says

If the lab had exploded, it would have damaged surrounding buildings, authorities said.

CLINTON TWP., MI — Authorities on Wednesday said they found a THC extraction lab in Clinton Township they said could have damaged surrounding buildings if it had exploded.

The County of Macomb Enforcement Team issued a search warrant Tuesday at a butane lab in the 33000 block of Cheryl in Clinton Township following a tip.

Once detectives got on the scene, they found what they described as a "highly elaborate THC extraction lab" utilizing butane. The Clinton Township Fire Department and Oakland County Hazmat Team were both used to decontaminate and process the lab.

Fire officials said that if the lab exploded it would have destroyed the garage along with damaging the neighboring residences.

Authorities recovered 10 marijuana plants, about 30 pounds of what is suspected to be marijuana and a handgun, along with lab equipment.

One person was interviewed and processed at the Clinton Township Police Department before being released pending further investigation, police said.
