Man Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency At The Wheel And Driving Into A Tree
Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies report that the 51-year-old Clinton Township man drove off the road and slowly collided with a tree.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 51-year-old Clinton Township man is dead after reportedly suffering a medical issue at the wheel and crashing into a tree, according to a press release.
Witnesses called 9-1-1 on Jan. 8 at 7:56 p.m. to report the crash in the area of Tienken Rd. near Clear Creek Dr. in Rochester Hills. Oakland County Sheriff's Office Deputies and the Rochester Hills Fire Department arrived on scene, and report that the Clinton Township man was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer on Tienken Rd. when he apparently suffered a medical issue, triggering him to drive off the road. The SUV came to a stop only after hitting a tree at a very slow speed.
The Rochester Hills Fire Department took the man to Crittenton Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 15-year-old Clinton Township boy was a passenger in the Ford Explorer at the time of the crash and was not hurt.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash. It is not known if the driver was wearing a seat belt and the crash is under investigation.
