Man Accused of Pawning Stolen Goods to Support Clinton Township Woman's Drug Habit

A 22-year-old Royal Oak man revealed he pawned the stolen goods to support the Clinton Township woman's drug habit.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A young man confessed he stole from Sears and pawned the stolen merchandise to support a Clinton Township woman's drug habit, according to a press release.

Troy police say that an unknown man and woman were spotted stealing $179.98 of merchandise from Sears on Dec. 24. The same man was again seen on Dec. 30 at 4:43 p.m. walking out of Sears with $199.99 of stolen merchandise. He reportedly ran through the parking lot and fled in a white 2012 Kia Forte.

A Troy police officer determined the female suspect in the case was a 23-year-old from Clinton Township and the Clinton Township Police Department located the male suspect's Kia Forte at a Clinton Township home.

Clinton Township and Troy police were able to make contact with the woman, who admitted knowledge of the Dec. 30 theft and participating in the Dec. 24 heist. The man - a 22-year-old from Royal Oak - was found in the Clinton Township home and admitted to the thefts. He told officers he sold the stolen merchandise to Motor City Pawn to support the woman's drug habit.

He was issued two misdemeanor citations for Retail Fraud – 3rd Degree and Driving While License Suspended The woman was issued a misdemeanor citation for Retail Fraud – 3rd Degree. Both suspects were released.
