Massage Parlors Closed Amid Prostitution Investigation
Township police bust China Traditional Meridian Health Care Center, Lakeside Spa, and Sunny Skies Spa for prostitution.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Three Clinton Township massage parlors have been shut down amid claims of prostitution. On Monday, township officials closed the China Traditional Meridian Health Care Center, Lakeside Spa, and the Sunny Skies Spa.
Police have made several prostitution arrests at the three massage parlors in recent months after receiving complaints from nearby residents and business owners, according to a report in the Macomb Daily. Township Clerk Kim Meltzer ordered the massage parlors closed because all three lacked a required business license.
“We cannot allow this kind of activity in our community,” Meltzer told the Macomb Daily. “There is illegal activity taking place in a business that shares a driveway where there are children playing outside.”

Meltzer investigated township records after hearing about the prostitution arrests and discovered all three massage parlors didn’t have current business licenses.
“It appears Sunny Skies was not operating legally in any capacity,” Township Building Superintendent Barry Diller told the Macomb Daily. “Any business must register to have a license, and without a license, they aren’t allowed to operate.”

All three facilities have different owners, according to police. The owners can still apply for a business license, but Meltzer said she will recommend denial based on the police finding illegal activity, the newspaper reported.
