Schoenherr Road To Close At M-59 Monday
MDOT will close Schoenherr Road at Hall Road starting Monday. Find out for how long.
MACOMB COUNTY — Schoenherr Road will close at M-59 (Hall Road) for 10 days starting Monday. The closure is part of a $60 million Michigan Department of Transportation project to reconstruct 3.7 miles of M-59 between M-53 and Garfield Road in 2017 and between Garfield Road and Romeo Plank Road in 2018.
Schoenherr is slated to reopen on Sept. 1. The closure will primarily affect Macomb County drivers in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, Utica, as well as Macomb, and Shelby townships.
The closure will allow crews to safely work through the intersection to finish paving the two left lanes. Drivers will be able to access M-59 and use the crossovers to access Schoenherr Road on the other side of M-59. Access will be maintained to all businesses on Schoenherr Road during the closure.

MDOT reports that the project is on schedule and that work is being performed in multiple locations. The M-59 crossover between Utica Park Boulevard and Delco Boulevard will be paved and reopened Monday. Crews will also finish placing stone on the eastbound M-59 lanes in preparation for paving, and will begin placing stone on the westbound lanes.

Recent work includes the paving and reopening of the Hayes Road intersection, the removal of concrete in the closed crossovers, and the installation of curb and gutter on more than half of the eastbound roadway.
Three lanes of eastbound M-59 remain open from M-53 to Schoenherr Road and westbound M-59 has three lanes open from Garfield Road to Schoenherr Road. The lane closures in these areas are in place to allow crews to safely work in the two left lanes of M-59 and address the remaining cross streets and crossovers.
