Search on for Suspect in Armed Robbery at Marathon Gas Station

Clinton Township police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that took place Jan. 12 at the Marathon Gas Station on Harper. 

An employee of the gas station at 35130 Harper told police the suspect entered the store around 8 p.m. Jan. 12, put a gun to the clerk's head and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk gave him $1,000 and the suspect fled, according to police.

The suspect is believed to have headed toward Shook Road where an off-duty Madison Heights police officer saw him get into a silver Chrysler 300, according to the police report. 

The officer told Clinton Township police he found the man's actions suspicious and followed the vehicle as it sped toward I-94, running a red light before entering the expressway.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'6'' to 5'9'', of medium build, wearing a black jacket, jeans and hat with camouflage face cover at the time of the robbery, according to police. He was armed with a black compact semiautomatic handgun, police say.
