Warrant Issued In Clinton Township Bicyclist's Death

A driver will face a felony charge of failing to stop at the scene an accident in connection with the September death of Jessica Anderson.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A warrant has been issued in connection with the September death of a 39-year-old Clinton Township woman. Jessica Anderson died Sept. 24 after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle on Gratiot Avenue at the intersection of 16 Mile Road, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, a warrant for failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death was issued against Abigail Busam, 28, by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

Busam, also of Clinton Township, will be arraigned at a later date, according to a Sheriff’s Office. The charge is a five-year felony.

Police say that Busam was driving east on 16 Mile and struck Anderson, who was riding north on Gratiot. Busam then left the scene without stopping, police said.

Less than a day later, Busam turned herself into Clinton Township Police. After being interviewed, she was released pending a complete accident investigation and review by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
