5 Ways to Get Fit at Hype Recreation Center
There's four months left in 2013. Stay true to your New Year's resolution by joining a fitness program in Dearborn.

As summer fades into fall, it's easy to slip into lethargic mode. HYPE Recreation Center in Dearborn Heights offers a new batch of fitness programs designed to encourage residents of all ages to stay active.
1. Kids Zumba
Kids love to dance, wiggle and sing along to great songs. The participants will get their bodies moving and grooving to Latin, Hip-Hop, Country, Children’s Disney favorites, and many various international dance rhythms. Classes are held on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is free for members, and $8 for non-members. Registration is available online.
2. Get Fit
The "Get Fit" program is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. Participants will engage in physical activity, and learn about a new health topic every week. Fifteen minutes of every session is dedicated to a health topic and 45 minutes incorporates aspects of physical activity such as: core strength, heart rate, circuit training, balance, stability, strength, weight management, endurance, speed and agility.
Classes will be held Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4 through Dec. 20. The class is free for members, and $60 for non-members. Registration is available online.
3. Training and Fitness
This program is designed to introduce youth on the do’s and don’ts of exercising and weight training. Certified personal trainers, combine training in all muscle/body parts, diet nutrition and understanding cardiovascular training.
The class is held on Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 through Nov. 16. The cost is $40 for members, and $60 for non-members. For more information, register online.
4. Adult Competitive Open Run
Open Run is a competitive program that will cover three full basketball courts every Sunday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Courts open at 9 a.m. for warm up and shoot around. Games will be 15 minute structured time and in a tournament style. Teams made up on a first-come basis. Men and women play on separate courts. The program runs from Sept. 8 through Nov. 24, and is free for members and $8 for non-members.
5. FitXtremeÂ
This one-of-a-kind workout cannot be compared by any other class or style. HYPE FitXtreme is a combination of Cross-Fit, P90X, Insanity, Boot Camp, Pilates, Yoga, plyometrics and more. The philosophy of this program is simple: the most fit person is an athlete, so we train like one. Training like an athlete will allow you to lose weight, build muscle, tone up, build stamina and endurance, core and more. Can you push yourself to the limit?
