Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray Reelected To Top Post

Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray was reelected as President of the Western Wayne Fire Department Mutual Aid Association.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray has been reelected as the president of the Western Wayne Fire Department Mutual Aid Association, according to a press release. This is Murray's second term as president and he has twice served on the board of directors.

“I’m honored to have been reelected as association president," Chief Murray said in a statement. He continued, "This important group improves safety around the region and strengthens our department’s ability to protect residents and property."

The Western Wayne Mutual Aid Association is composed of fire chiefs from over 20 communities. The organization was created to "offer reciprocal aid during emergencies, provide leadership and training in the fire service, promote community engagement, and create a forum for the exchange of ideas and solutions to common problems," according to the press release.

Chief Murray is noted for his leadership prowess. He recently pursued a $1.1 million FEMA grant, which funded the creation of the Dearborn Fire Department Training Academy. And in 2013, he spearheaded the Dearborn Fire Department’s consolidation with the Melvindale Fire Department.
