Dearborn Man Charged After Fatally Stabbing Mom: Police
Police did not share a motive for the killing of 70-year-old Jamila Alwan.
DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn man could spend the rest of his life in prison after stabbing his mother to death Sunday, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers found 70-year-old Jamila Alwan stabbed to death at 7:35 p.m. Sunday inside a Dearborn on the city’s east side in the 7800 block of Reuter Street, according to police.
Abrahim Alfagieh, 36, was charged with first-degree homicide in connection with the killing. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bail. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 23.

Police said Alfagieh called police and told them that his mother had been stabbed. Officers arrived within three minutes and immediately attempted CPR, but Alwan died, according to police.
Police did not share a suspected motive for the killing.

"We are grateful for the efforts of our detectives and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in issuing charges quickly in this heinous incident. Our hearts remain with the family and loved ones of the deceased," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said.
