Dearborn Police Identify Suspect In String of Home Invasions

Dearborn police say 29-year-old Shady Karim has been identified as a suspect in a spree of home invasions across Dearborn.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn police have named a suspect in a string of home invasions in the northeast end of the city, according to a press release.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges of Home Invasion in the 2nd Degree against 29-year-old Shady Karim of Shelby Township. Karim has also been charged with Habitual Offender 4th Notice, which comes with a life sentence if convicted. Police say Karim was on parole for Home Invasion while the recent home invasion crimes occurred.

Karim was arraigned in the 19th District Court by the Honorable Judge Gene Hunt and bond set at $100,000 cash. Karim will be required to wear a GPS tether if he posts bond. A Probable Cause Conference was set for Jan. 27 at 9:00 a.m. and a Preliminary Exam date of Feb. 3 at 9:00 a.m. was also set.

“The Dearborn Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community and we will continue to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement. Haddad continued, "We will continue to work in collaboration with citizens and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that responsible parties are held accountable.”
