Across the country, one in five high school students and one in twenty middle school students reported that they vaped in the most recent national survey.

Local parents and their teens and tweens have two upcoming opportunities to learn more about the dangerous rise in the use of electronic cigarettes among young people.

On Jan. 11, Dearborn High School is hosting a free public seminar Vaping 101 – For Parents.  The entire community is invited to this presentation, including teeagers.  The event will be held from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria annex.  Dearborn High is located at 19501 W. Outer Dr., Dearborn.  See the Dearborn High flyer here

The 6 p.m. information session will address what a vape is, the health risks related to vaping, legal issues regarding vaping and what parents can do to deter vaping.

Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is extremely addictive, especially for teens and tweens. Students in the district are not allowed to have any vaping products on school grounds.

Edsel Ford High School is also hosting a discussion about vaping during the school’s monthly meeting for its parents on Monday, Nov. 29.  Those sessions will occur at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. See the Edsel Ford flyer.

ACCESS ASAP will lead the sessions at Edsel Ford High, which are titled Youth and Vaping.
