Ford's F-150 Gets Refreshed Styling, Upgraded Technology
Ford Motor Company's F-150 will have a different look, greater towing capacity and upgraded technology.

DEARBORN, MI — Ford’s F-150 may be one of the best-selling vehicles of all-time, but the Dearborn automaker isn’t resting on its laurels with the bread and butter of its truck fleet. A refreshed design with “bolder Built Ford Tough styling,” increased towing capacity and upgraded technology, Ford is hoping to continue its market dominance.
The new F-150 has upped its gas mileage ratings to 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined. Ford says that’s the best gas mileage in its class, to go along with added towing strength at 13,200-pounds and a payload capacity of 3,270 pounds in some models.
“The Ford F-150 lineup again delivers on its promise to give full-size truck customers even more value, functionality and smart technology innovations, with engines with best-in-class towing, payload and fuel economy,” Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager, said in a news release.

Improved technology is another highlight of the new F-150. Besides offering an available Wi-Fi hotspot, Ford is incorporating pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. The idea is to help drivers in heavy traffic avoid collisions by applying brakes. Then there’s adaptive cruise control, which also works in with stop-and-go conditions.

The number of options available in F-150 models will increase. Engines, for example, range from the 2.7-liter EcoBoost up to an enhanced 5.0-liter V8.
“Our new F-150 highlights Ford’s commitment to its hardworking truck customers and how we listen to their demands for their new F-150 to be even tougher, even smarter and even more capable for work and play,” Eckert said.
