St. Jude Trike-a-Thon Set for Thursday at HFCC

Area children can raise money for the St. Jude Children's Hospital by riding their tricycles on the HFCC campus Thursday afternoon.

The Henry Ford Community College Child Development Center will join thousands of pre-schools, daycares and other groups across the country in sponsoring a St. Jude Trike-A-Thon event on April 25 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The trike-a-thon will take place from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m., and 3:45 to 5 p.m. on Thursday in the courtyard behind the Liberal Arts building.

The event teaches area children about bike and riding, toy safety lessons, and the importance of helping others, including the patients of St. Jude. Families, friends and the community team up to support the hospital by pledging a donation for the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon. Since no patient is ever denied treatment from St. Jude because of an inability to pay, funds from the trike-a-thon help the hospital’s mission of finding cures and saving children.

This is the ninth year that the HFCC Child Development Center has held the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon program. The college has raised more than $7,000 since it began the program in 2004.

“We challenge family and supporters of HFCC to join us in helping to teach our kids about riding safety while raising funds for St. Jude. I’m proud our kids are able to help give hope to thousands of children battling cancer and other deadly diseases at St. Jude,” said Cristina Greco, HFCC’s coordinator for the event.
