Larceny from a vehicle
Dearborn Police are investigating two vehicle larcenies that occurred in the city's west side this week.
On April 7, a 21-year-old Dearborn woman informed police that an unknown suspect or suspects entered her vehicle while it was parked in the Kroger parking lot at 15255 E. Michigan Ave. and removed her purse.
According to police reports, the woman left her car around 9:05 a.m. after storing her purse in the vehicle's center console and locking the doors. Upon exiting the store 10 minutes later, the woman discovered she left her rear passenger window down. A purse, driver's license, Social Security card, birth certificate and unknown amount of cash were taken from the vehicle.
Dearborn police officers were also dispatched to the 4300 block of Jonathon on April 7 in response to a theft complaint. According to police reports, the owner of a 2009 Dodge Journey SUV informed police that an Apple iPad valued at $600 was stolen from the vehicle.
The victim told officers that he parked and locked his vehicle in his driveway. Roughly 5 minutes after entering his house, he heard the vehicle's alarm and, upon investigating, discovered the driver's side door open and the iPad missing. No other items were taken from the vehicle, and no damage was reported.
